Role summary
Azenta seeks a Director of Payroll to lead U.S. and European payroll operations, ensuring accurate processing, regulatory compliance, and system optimization across multiple jurisdictions. The role manages bi-weekly payroll for 25+ states, coordinates with international providers, and partners with finance and HR on controls and audit readiness.
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10+ years progressive payroll experience with multi-state U.S. and multi-country European operations
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) strongly preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in payroll controls, audit support, and process standardization
- Experience with large-scale ERP systems required; Oracle experience preferred
- Workday Payroll experience preferred
- Familiarity with UK, Germany, Switzerland, France payroll regulations and in-country providers
What you'll be doing
- Oversee bi-weekly U.S. payroll operations across 25+ states and European jurisdictions through internal teams and external providers
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and foreign payroll laws, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements
- Manage Workday payroll system optimization and partner with IT on enhancements and integrations
- Lead expatriate payroll, tax equalization, and year-end processes across U.S. and international jurisdictions
- Collaborate with Corporate Finance and Accounting on payroll accruals, funding, reconciliations, and month-end close support
