Role summary

AstraZeneca seeks a Director of Patient Centered Science for late-stage cardiovascular and renal metabolic programs. This leader will develop and implement patient-centered evidence strategies across clinical development, regulatory submissions, and commercialization, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure clinical outcome assessments and patient-reported outcomes support approval and market access.

What they're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in clinical, biological, or social science discipline
  • Master's degree in outcomes research, epidemiology, health services research, or related field
  • MD or doctoral degree preferred
  • At least 5 years' biopharmaceutical industry experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in COA/PRO or patient-centered science
  • Strong understanding of clinical development, study design, and evidence interpretation
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods for patient insight and outcome measurement

What you'll be doing

  • Lead patient-centered science strategy for assigned therapy areas covering COA, PRO, and patient experience evidence needs
  • Advise on endpoint selection, development, validation, and implementation of fit-for-purpose instruments
  • Identify evidence gaps and define plans for regulatory, payer, and clinical decision-making
  • Lead regulatory and HTA interactions related to PRO/COA evidence and market access needs
  • Manage external vendors and subprojects including scope, budget, timelines, quality, and deliverables
