Role summary

The Director, Global Patient Advocacy Lead will develop and execute the global patient advocacy strategy for Alexion's Rare Disease Business Unit. Reporting to the VP Global Head Patient Experience, this role drives cross-functional partnerships with disease-specific advocacy organizations and rare disease communities to advance patient outcomes and support clinical development.

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 10+ years progressive industry experience or 7+ years in patient advocacy, including global roles
  • Established connections within the global rare disease advocacy community
  • Leadership ability and influence in complex matrix environments
  • Deep knowledge of biopharma industry including drug development, market access, and compliant patient engagement
  • Strong understanding of compliance, regulatory, and legal issues affecting patient engagement
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional influence skills

What you'll be doing

  • Establish and strengthen strategic partnerships with disease-specific and cross-disease patient advocacy organizations
  • Shape and coordinate execution of global patient advocacy strategy across disease areas with cross-functional teams
  • Advance patient-focused drug development through partnerships with rare disease communities supporting clinical trials and recruitment
  • Integrate patient insights and feedback into advocacy group frameworks and internal decision-making processes
  • Lead internal patient centricity initiatives and represent the organization at patient-focused conferences and external meetings
