Role summary
GE HealthCare seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician 1 to provide onsite service and maintenance support for healthcare facility equipment in the Asheville, NC area. The role involves diagnosing equipment issues, performing repairs and preventive maintenance, and maintaining strong customer relationships while following company and regulatory protocols.
What they're looking for
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in electrical, biomedical, or mechanical engineering; or equivalent military education; or high school diploma with 2+ years equipment servicing experience
- Analytical and communication skills with ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers
- Knowledge of electronic digital circuitry and electro-mechanical devices
- Ability to interpret schematic diagrams
- Willingness to work rotating on-call schedule including weekends for critical issues
- Valid U.S. work authorization; visa sponsorship not available
- Physical capacity to lift up to 35 lbs and work in varied positions; good hand dexterity and color vision
What you'll be doing
- Evaluate biomedical equipment issues, implement repairs, and perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections
- Assist experienced technicians on basic and complex equipment repairs as assigned
- Maintain daily customer communications to ensure proper resolution and follow-up
- Document all repair actions and submit reports according to schedule
- Maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and regulatory requirements for medical equipment
