Role summary

Cytokinetics seeks an Associate Scientist to support pharmacology research for cardiac muscle dysfunction programs. The role involves designing and executing in vivo studies, managing animal cohorts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance preclinical compounds toward development.

BS in Biology, Physiology, Pharmacology, or related field with 8+ years hands-on research experience, or MS with 6+ years
Demonstrated proficiency in rodent handling and dosing via multiple administration routes
Extensive experience with biochemical and molecular assays: Western blotting, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, enzyme assays
Experience with cardiac functional assessments such as echocardiography or blood pressure measurement
Ability to analyze complex datasets and communicate findings in written and oral formats
Prior experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting strongly preferred
Mammalian cell culture or primary cardiomyocyte handling experience a plus

What you'll be doing

Design, execute, and manage in vivo pharmacology studies with biochemical and molecular assays for cardiac therapeutics
Oversee animal study cohorts including scheduling, dosing, monitoring, and vivarium coordination with IACUC compliance
Quantify and interpret disease biomarkers and target engagement through functional and molecular endpoints
Collaborate with discovery, DMPK, and translational teams on study design, data interpretation, and advancement decisions
Document experimental methods, manage datasets, and prepare data summaries and presentations for team meetings
