Role summary
Associate Director of Safety & Environment supporting multiple capital projects at a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The role provides comprehensive EHS guidance across project phases, from design through commissioning, with emphasis on process safety management and regulatory compliance.
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental science, engineering, or related field
- Minimum 8 years EHS experience supporting capital projects in R&D or manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, environmental regulations, and process safety methodologies (HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA)
- Experience with EHS systems: PIMS, Eval/Kneat, Enablon, Cority IH, VelocityEHS, SMIS
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and familiarity with GES project timelines
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with engineering fundamentals knowledge
What you'll be doing
- Serve as EHS stakeholder across all project phases from concept through operational qualification
- Plan and conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and coordinate regulatory permitting activities
- Lead or support pre-start-up safety reviews, equipment inspections, and commissioning safety planning
- Develop confined space entry procedures, LOTO procedures, and review standard operating procedures
- Provide weekly project status updates and maintain accurate EHS documentation and records
