Role summary
Merck's 2027 Future Talent Program offers 12-week internships in manufacturing operations and technical operations at the Wilmington, Delaware biologics facility. Interns will support plant startup, process optimization, new product technical initiatives, and equipment/facilities projects across the Global Biologics Organization.
What they're looking for
- Pursuing associate, bachelor's, or master's degree in chemical, biochemical, biomedical, biological, computer, electrical, packaging, or mechanical engineering
- Studying related sciences (chemistry, biology, virology, microbiology) or manufacturing programs (biotechnology, biomanufacturing, operations research, industrial engineering)
- Pharmaceutical or biologics manufacturing-related experience preferred
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Lean Six Sigma experience or knowledge and project management capabilities preferred
- Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and data analytics experience preferred
What you'll be doing
- Support manufacturing plant startup operations in drug substance or product lines
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve and optimize manufacturing processes
- Lead or support projects focused on safety and compliance performance improvements
- Execute strategic technical projects to enhance supply chain efficiency and reduce costs
- Support design, build, renovation, and project management phases of manufacturing facilities
