Role summary
Merck's Quantitative Pharmacology & Pharmacometrics group seeks graduate students for a 10-12 week summer internship in 2027. Interns will develop mathematical and statistical models supporting drug development, working with experienced scientists on projects spanning pharmacometrics, PBPK modeling, and machine learning applications.
What they're looking for
- Currently enrolled in PhD or MS program in pharmacometrics, clinical pharmacology, or related quantitative field
- Available full-time for 10-12 consecutive weeks in May or June 2027
- Programming experience with R, NONMEM, MATLAB, Python, or SAS preferred
- Understanding of pharmacometric workflows including model development and clinical trial simulation
- Strong analytical, computational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
What you'll be doing
- Develop and apply mathematical, physiological, and statistical models for drug development decisions
- Conduct pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic analysis and physiologically-based pharmacokinetics modeling
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on quantitative analysis projects
- Contribute to scientific presentations and potential publication preparation
- Explore machine learning and AI-based solutions in clinical pharmacology contexts
