Role summary
Merck seeks interns for a 10-12 week summer program in nonclinical drug safety focused on investigative toxicology. Participants will develop immunotoxicity assays and evaluate immune responses to drug candidates alongside experienced scientists in the West Point, PA laboratory.
What they're looking for
- Currently enrolled in BS/BA in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, toxicology, pharmacology, pharmacy, or related discipline
- Available for 10-12 weeks beginning June 2027
- 3.0 GPA or higher preferred
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Background or coursework in immunology, cell and molecular biology, or toxicology preferred
- Previous cell culture experience considered advantageous but not required
What you'll be doing
- Work with scientists to evaluate effects of small molecule and biologic drug candidates on immune cells
- Develop and establish in vitro models of immunotoxicity
- Contribute to assay development for assessing immune-mediated adverse drug responses
- Learn and apply new laboratory technologies under mentorship
