Role summary
Merck is seeking summer interns for a 12-week program in Discovery Pharmaceutical Sciences at locations in Boston, MA and West Point, PA. Interns will contribute to formulation development and manufacturing projects across oral, sterile, and specialty pharmaceutical products including small molecules, peptides, biologics, and vaccines.
What they're looking for
- Currently enrolled undergraduate sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Engineering
- Available for full-time work for up to 12 weeks between June–August 2027
- Completed at least 2 years toward bachelor's degree by June 2024
- GPA of 3.0 or higher (preferred)
- Basic laboratory skills and research experience including electronic notebook recording, HPLC, spectroscopy, and analytical techniques (preferred)
- Strong communication skills, teamwork ability, and multifunctional collaboration mindset
What you'll be doing
- Execute research projects in formulation development, drug delivery systems, or biologics characterization under senior scientist mentorship
- Participate in departmental and project team meetings to understand the drug development process
- Present research results in both oral and written formats to communicate findings
