These Job Posting Rules are part of the RoleLantern Terms of Use and apply to all employers, recruiters, staffing firms, search firms, agencies, institutions, job distributors, partners, and other posting entities.
1. Baseline Standard
Every job post must be truthful, accurate, current, complete, professional, and tied to a bona fide role with a legitimate intent to hire. A job post must not mislead applicants about the employer, recruiter, role, compensation, location, work arrangement, duties, qualifications, duration, sponsorship, benefits, application process, or material employment terms.
2. Required Posting Content
Unless RoleLantern approves a limited exception, each job post should include:
Legal employer name or accurate posting entity name;
Clear role title without keyword stuffing, excessive capitalization, compensation hype, or misleading location terms;
Complete role description with material duties and responsibilities;
Minimum qualifications and preferred qualifications, clearly separated;
Employment type, such as full-time, part-time, contract, contract-to-hire, temporary, internship, fellowship, consultant, 1099, W-2, hourly, salaried, or unpaid where lawful;
Primary location, remote status, hybrid requirement, onsite requirement, travel requirement, relocation requirement, field territory, and any state or country restrictions;
Good-faith compensation range, bonus, commission, equity, benefits, and other compensation disclosures where required by law or Platform settings;
Application process and any material screening, credentialing, background check, licensing, testing, travel, vaccination, clinical access, or work authorization requirements;
Reasonable accommodation contact or process where required by law or requested by RoleLantern.
3. Prohibited Job Posts
The following are prohibited:
Fake, expired, duplicative, speculative, or misleading jobs;
Resume harvesting, lead generation, data collection, marketing, franchising, investment, training, coaching, or business-opportunity posts disguised as jobs;
Jobs that require applicants to pay to apply, interview, be considered, purchase equipment, purchase training, deposit checks, transfer money, buy products, or provide financial account information before lawful onboarding;
Posts that misrepresent the employer, staffing firm, recruiter, client, job location, compensation, benefits, sponsorship, employment type, or hiring intent;
Posts that include unlawful preferences or discouragement based on protected characteristics;
Posts for illegal work, unsafe work, adult sexual services, weapons trafficking, controlled substance trafficking, fraudulent schemes, pyramid schemes, money mule activity, illegal clinical activity, unlawful lab activity, or roles that violate applicable law;
Posts that request protected health information, genetic information, disability information, medical information, biometric information, government identifiers, financial information, or immigration documents unless legally required, necessary, properly disclosed, and handled through secure lawful channels;
Posts that include confidential third-party information, trade secrets, patient data, clinical trial confidential information, or materials the poster lacks the right to share;
Posts that route applicants to unrelated surveys, marketing funnels, unrelated talent communities, unrelated app downloads, unrelated agency registration, or unrelated paid services.
4. Staffing Firms, Recruiters, and Confidential Searches
Staffing firms, search firms, agencies, and recruiters must accurately identify themselves unless a lawful and approved confidential search format is used. If the actual employer cannot be named, the posting must still be truthful and must not misrepresent the role, work location, industry, compensation, relationship, or hiring process.
A confidential search may not be used to hide unlawful, deceptive, non-existent, resume harvesting, or bait-and-switch postings. RoleLantern may require proof of authorization to post on behalf of a client.
5. Compensation, Benefits, and Pay Transparency
Posting entities must comply with all compensation disclosure laws that apply to each posting. If a role may be performed remotely or across multiple jurisdictions, the posting entity must consider each potentially applicable jurisdiction. Compensation ranges must be good-faith ranges and must not be misleading, artificially broad, inconsistent with internal expectations, or designed to avoid transparency laws.
Where required or requested by RoleLantern, posts must disclose:
Minimum and maximum salary or hourly pay range;
Bonus, commission, equity, incentive, piece-rate, shift differential, or other variable compensation;
General description of benefits and other compensation;
Whether compensation is commission-only, unpaid, volunteer, stipend-based, training-based, piecework, contractor-only, or otherwise nontraditional.
6. Location, Remote Work, and International Jobs
Remote, hybrid, field, and international postings must clearly state where the worker may be located and whether the role has state, province, country, time-zone, travel, office, lab, clinical site, customer site, manufacturing site, sponsor site, or territory restrictions.
A posting may not use “remote” if the role is actually onsite, territory based, travel based, limited to certain states or countries, or subject to undisclosed location restrictions. International postings must comply with local law, including language, labor, wage, immigration, tax, agency, and data protection rules.
7. Life Sciences Quality Rules
Life sciences postings must not overstate product approvals, clinical outcomes, regulatory status, sponsor relationships, trial status, safety profile, patient access, therapeutic claims, or credential requirements. If a role requires medical, clinical, nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, regulatory, quality, manufacturing, GxP, clinical monitoring, pharmacovigilance, or other regulated qualifications, the post must state them accurately.
8. Enforcement
RoleLantern may remove, restrict, edit for formatting, label, suspend, de-index, require correction of, or refuse any job post. Repeat or serious violations may result in account suspension, termination, loss of paid services without refund where lawful, and reporting to appropriate authorities when necessary.
