Role summary
Avantor seeks an Accounting Team Lead for its Schwabmünchen location to manage accounting operations across two sites. The role combines technical and personnel leadership of the accounting team with responsibility for financial compliance, period-end closings, and liaison with external auditors and tax authorities.
What they're looking for
- Completed commercial apprenticeship or business degree with finance/accounting focus
- Certification as certified accountant, ideally with international orientation
- Multiple years of professional accounting and finance experience
- Initial experience in technical and disciplinary management of staff
- Strong knowledge of HGB accounting standards; US GAAP knowledge advantageous
- Good tax law knowledge and advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel
- Very good German and English language skills, written and spoken
What you'll be doing
- Lead accounting team technically and operationally; collaborate with controlling, procurement, and other departments
- Ensure proper bookkeeping and compliance with corporate and statutory requirements
- Support period-end closings, month-end entries per HGB and US GAAP, and balance sheet reconciliation
- Prepare audit documentation and serve as liaison with auditors, SOX controls, and external authorities
- Process payments, coordinate pension and payroll matters, and manage tax and treasury interactions
