Role summary
Senior Systems Engineer needed to develop and validate automated laboratory instrumentation and bioprocess technologies. The role combines hardware, software, and biology expertise to design workflows, write integration scripts, and connect robotic systems with enterprise LIMS infrastructure under ISO 13485 standards.
What they're looking for
- Ph.D. or M.S. with 3+ years, or B.S. with 5+ years in biomedical, chemical, or mechanical/electrical engineering
- Experience developing automated instrumentation for bioprocesses and design of experiments (DoE)
- Proficiency writing scripts in C#, Python, or similar for laboratory automation control software
- Experience integrating robotic systems with LIMS platforms and sample tracking software
- Strong scientific computation, data analysis, and hardware assembly skills
- Familiarity with biological instrumentation: liquid handling, PCR, cell cloning, DNA extraction/purification
What you'll be doing
- Develop, validate, and release new automated bioprocess technologies and protocols
- Design and test integration scripts connecting robotic systems with LIMS infrastructure
- Operate and maintain laboratory automation systems and troubleshoot cross-functional equipment issues
- Prepare documentation, conduct knowledge transfer, and train teams on new systems
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and ISO 13485 standards throughout development
