Role summary

Senior Scientist position in neuroscience biomarker discovery at Merck's Boston laboratory. Responsible for designing, developing, and executing high-dimensional assays to support biomarker strategies in Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and pain programs from preclinical to clinical stages.

What they're looking for

  • Master's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, immunology, or related field with 6+ years industry experience, or PhD with relevant hands-on experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in biomarker assay development and implementation in large-scale human cohorts and preclinical studies
  • Hands-on proficiency in ultra-sensitive, multiplexed immunoassays and Next-Generation Sequencing workflows
  • Proven experience designing and implementing laboratory automation tools and liquid handlers for high-throughput assay scaling
  • Knowledge of clinical assay validation parameters and regulatory guidelines including FDA and ICH standards
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

What you'll be doing

  • Plan, design, execute, and deliver high-quality biomarker datasets from human and preclinical samples supporting neuroscience pipeline programs
  • Lead design, development, and qualification of fit-for-purpose biomarker methods including immunoassays and high-plex proteomic platforms
  • Collaborate with data scientists to ensure automated workflows produce high-fidelity data suitable for modeling and multi-omics integration
  • Identify, pilot, and implement novel high-throughput methodologies for biomarker discovery including robotic automation and single-cell sequencing
  • Summarize and communicate data results with internal and external partners to support pipeline governance decisions
