Role summary

Amgen seeks a senior machine learning engineer in Hyderabad to design and scale end-to-end ML and generative AI platforms. The role involves building production-grade pipelines, microservices and full-stack applications while embedding security, observability and responsible AI controls across enterprise infrastructure. Requires 3–5 years in AI/ML, expertise across classical and deep learning, proficiency in Python and Java, and cloud/MLOps technologies.

What they're looking for

  • 3-5 years of AI/ML and enterprise software experience
  • Deep knowledge of ML algorithms: regression, tree-based ensembles, clustering, dimensionality reduction, time-series, and deep learning architectures
  • Expertise in GenAI tooling: vector databases, RAG pipelines, prompt engineering DSLs, and agent frameworks
  • Proficiency in Python and Java; Docker/Kubernetes; AWS, Azure, or GCP; MLOps tools like GitHub Actions and SageMaker Pipelines
  • Demonstrated ability selecting and integrating AI SaaS/PaaS offerings and scaling custom ML services
  • Strong business acumen: TCO/NPV modeling and executive communication of technical trade-offs
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences

What you'll be doing

  • Engineer end-to-end ML pipelines using Kubeflow, SageMaker Pipelines, or equivalent MLOps stacks for data ingestion through model promotion
  • Convert research code into production-grade microservices packaged in Docker/Kubernetes with secure REST, gRPC, or event-driven APIs
  • Build full-stack AI applications integrating model services with UI components, workflow engines, and business logic for sub-second latency delivery
  • Optimize model performance and cost through algorithm selection, quantization/pruning, and GPU/CPU auto-scaling tuning to meet SLAs
  • Implement comprehensive observability including real-time metrics, distributed tracing, drift detection, and bias monitoring for live models
