Role summary
Six-month co-op program supporting development of predictive in vitro assays for islet transplantation research. Candidates will gain hands-on experience in cell-based assay development, functional characterization, and translational biomarker research within Vertex's Analytical Development group.
What they're looking for
- Currently pursuing advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Biological Sciences or related field
- Basic laboratory experience with cell-based assays and mammalian cell culture
- Strong organizational, analytical, and scientific documentation skills
- Ability to interpret experimental data and communicate results verbally and in writing
- Familiarity with cell viability, cellular function, stress culture, or biomarker assays
- Interest in translational research, assay development, and cell therapy or regenerative medicine
What you'll be doing
- Support design, planning, and execution of in vitro studies using islet-based systems
- Perform cell-based assays evaluating viability, functional performance, stress responses, and biomarker profiles
- Evaluate transplantation-relevant stress conditions including oxidative stress and cytokine challenge
- Analyze experimental data and maintain accurate scientific documentation and records
- Communicate study progress and results to project team; prepare final presentation or written summary
Compensation$35.00 - $50.00 USD/hr
