Role summary
QuidelOrtho seeks a Software Release Manager to oversee end-to-end planning and execution of software releases for regulated medical device systems. The role combines Agile team leadership with system-level oversight, coordinating across engineering, quality, and regulatory functions in a hybrid San Diego environment.
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM field, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years in software program management, Agile environments, or related roles
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex software systems across cross-functional teams
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum) and release management practices
- Proficiency with Azure DevOps, JIRA, or similar Agile lifecycle tools
- Understanding of FDA, ISO 13485, and IEC 62304 regulatory standards preferred
- Experience managing schedules, budgets, resources, and vendor relationships
What you'll be doing
- Own end-to-end software release planning, coordination, and deployment with quality and schedule accountability
- Develop integrated release plans with dependencies, milestones, and resource forecasts across multiple teams
- Identify and mitigate technical, schedule, quality, budget, and integration risks proactively
- Ensure regulatory compliance and audit readiness through documentation and traceability management
- Provide data-driven status reporting and communicate release scope, timelines, and readiness to stakeholders
