Role summary

Merck seeks a Senior Specialist in EHS Solution Architecture to design and deliver integrated digital systems across maintenance, engineering, and environmental health & safety. The role combines strategy and hands-on architecture work to connect disparate platforms, establish data governance, and enable analytics and AI capabilities across global manufacturing and operations.

What they're looking for

TOGAF certification or equivalent enterprise architecture framework expertise
8+ years IT experience in system and solution architecture, enterprise integration, and data platforms
Demonstrated expertise designing APIs (REST, OData), data lakes/lakehouses, and enterprise system integrations
Experience with AI/machine learning architecture and governance frameworks
Knowledge of CAD/BIM, CMMS, asset reliability, or EHS platforms (Enablon, Sphera, Cority, Intelex preferred)
Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or related discipline

What you'll be doing

Define current-state, transition-state, and target-state architectures for maintenance, engineering, and EHS systems
Design and implement integration patterns connecting enterprise systems via APIs, events, and governed data-sharing mechanisms
Architect central data hubs with ingestion, transformation, semantic modeling, metadata standards, and quality governance
Convert approved architectural concepts into solution designs, specifications, roadmaps, and deployment plans
Evaluate COTS, SaaS, and cloud technologies; assess vendor capabilities and recommend fit-for-purpose solutions
