Role summary
Merck seeks a Senior Specialist in Advanced Process Analytics & Data Strategy to develop data-driven solutions for biologics manufacturing. This technical role combines bioprocess engineering expertise with data science capabilities to support process monitoring, analytics architecture, and manufacturing excellence across the biologics network.
What they're looking for
- B.S. in Chemical, Biochemical, or Bioengineering with 5+ years biopharmaceutical experience
- M.S. in related field with 3+ years experience, or Ph.D. with 1+ years experience
- Proven bioprocess manufacturing knowledge including upstream and downstream operations
- Hands-on Python or R experience for data analysis and statistical modeling
- Experience with manufacturing data systems (PI Historian, MES, LIMS, ELN)
- Strong GMP/GxP and Continued Process Verification (CPV) knowledge
- SQL and data manipulation skills applied to scientific or manufacturing contexts
What you'll be doing
- Develop process analytics solutions connecting unit operations, parameters, and quality attributes
- Build and maintain data flow maps across biologics manufacturing network and systems
- Create dashboards and visualizations for proactive process monitoring and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with statistical, IT, and engineering teams to prepare datasets for modeling and AI/ML
- Support data governance, standardization, and ALCOA+ compliance across manufacturing sites
