Amgen's AI & Data Innovation Lab seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design and build scalable AI proofs-of-concept that bridge prototype and production. What they're looking for

Doctorate degree, or Master's with 2+ years relevant experience, or Bachelor's with 4+ years, or equivalent
4-6 years in AI engineering, machine learning, software engineering, data engineering, or cloud engineering
Full-stack AI application development experience beyond experimentation, with scalability and security focus
Knowledge of LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector databases, and agentic workflows
Experience evaluating AI solutions for accuracy, reliability, hallucination risk, latency, and cost
AWS Cloud, data pipelines, containers, CI/CD, and secure development practices
Strong Python foundation with testing, version control, and maintainable code practices

What you'll be doing

Build scalable AI proofs-of-concept demonstrating clear paths from prototype to enterprise production
Partner with product managers and stakeholders to translate business needs into practical AI solutions
Design and implement modern AI systems using LLMs, agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, and cloud services
Validate feasibility and business value by assessing technical risk, data readiness, integration complexity, and cost
Create reusable technical assets including reference architectures, components, and documentation for team scaling
