Role summary
Madrigal Pharmaceuticals seeks a Senior Director, Clinical Development to lead strategic and operational oversight of its three clinical-stage programs across metabolic and liver diseases. - 10+ years clinical development experience across full drug development lifecycle; 15+ years total relevant experience
- Demonstrated success leading health authority interactions and regulatory engagements
- Proven ability to design clinical trials and make benefit-risk decisions with limited data
- Strong leadership presence with ability to influence internal and external stakeholders effectively
- Experience in liver disease, MASH/NASH, metabolic, cardiometabolic, or inflammatory pathways preferred
- Prior NDA/MAA submission leadership or outcomes study experience preferred
What you'll be doing
- Provide strategic clinical leadership across three programs and seventeen active studies; establish development milestones and risk mitigation strategies
- Lead design and medical oversight of Phase I–III trials including FIH, PoC, registrational, and outcomes studies
- Serve as clinical subject matter expert for regulatory interactions with FDA, EMA, and other health authorities
- Partner cross-functionally with Discovery, Translational Medicine, Nonclinical, CMC, Regulatory, and Commercial teams
- Review emerging data, conduct benefit–risk assessments, and guide adaptive development strategies
