Role summary
Labcorp seeks a Scientist I in Research & Development to support molecular diagnostic assay development, validation, and optimization using NGS technologies. The role involves designing validation studies, analyzing sequencing data, preparing technical documentation, and collaborating across cross-functional teams in a regulated laboratory environment.

- Bachelor's in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, or Biomedical Sciences plus 5+ years molecular diagnostics/genomics experience, or PhD plus 2+ years
- 3+ years of experience with Next-Generation Sequencing workflows and technologies
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of molecular biology techniques: DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, library preparation, sequencing methods
- Familiarity with CLIA, CAP, NYS, FDA, or ISO-regulated laboratory environments
- Ability to prepare detailed technical documentation and validation reports
- Project management experience including planning, tracking timelines, and coordination
What you'll be doing
- Develop, optimize, and implement molecular diagnostic assays utilizing NGS technologies
- Design and execute assay verification and validation studies for germline and somatic applications
- Analyze NGS assay performance data, sequencing metrics, and validation study results
- Prepare technical documentation including validation protocols, SOPs, and risk assessments
- Collaborate with Bioinformatics, Clinical Laboratory, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs on cross-functional projects
