Role summary

Merck seeks an Associate Director to own and evolve the omnichannel design system that governs content creation across all brands and markets. The role manages component libraries, design tokens, and governance processes while driving adoption across product, brand, creative, and technology teams in a matrixed environment.

6+ years product management or design systems experience in enterprise, agency, or technology settings
Direct end-to-end design system ownership including components, tokens, documentation, and versioning
Advanced Figma expertise with component architecture, variables, tokens, and design-to-development handoff
Experience with Supernova and engineering environments like Storybook and GitHub for token management
Cross-functional stakeholder management across brand, creative, agency, engineering, and market teams
Practical AI-generated content experience including templates, prompts, and quality control guardrails
Regulated or compliance-sensitive environment experience with embedded governance and accessibility knowledge

What you'll be doing

Own design system vision, roadmap, and release plan serving all brands and geographies consistently
Manage component library and token architecture in Figma with governance intake, design review, and approval
Drive design system adoption across organizations through documentation, training, and partner enablement
Define and govern AI-enabled content creation including templates, prompts, and brand compliance safeguards
Monitor design system KPIs including reuse, adoption, accessibility conformance, and content cycle time impact
