Role summary
Pfizer seeks a Ph.D.-level postdoctoral researcher to advance T cell engager development in the BioMedicine Design group at La Jolla. The fellow will integrate protein engineering, cell biology, and immunology to optimize therapeutic candidates and prepare for early-stage drug discovery roles.
What they're looking for
- Ph.D. in cancer biology, immunology, molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, or related discipline
- Less than 2 years postdoctoral experience; commitment to 2–4 year full-time fellowship
- At least one first-author publication in high-quality specialty or general journals
- Proficiency in molecular cloning, protein expression/purification, mammalian cell culture, and flow cytometry
- Strong technical rigor in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication
- Prior experience with antibody discovery, protein engineering, or display technologies (yeast/phage) preferred
- Experience with bispecific antibodies or T cell engagers a plus
What you'll be doing
- Design and construct experimental systems to investigate target biology and mechanism of action
- Develop and execute cell-based assays to screen, rank, and optimize therapeutic molecules
- Conduct literature reviews to formulate testable hypotheses and identify research gaps
- Present data at internal meetings and make evidence-driven decisions on project direction
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams on creative therapeutic discovery approaches
