Role summary
Merck seeks an SAP Master Data Specialist to support pilot-scale GMP manufacturing of biologic clinical supplies in vaccines and therapeutic proteins. The role involves creating and sustaining standardized business processes, master data management, and lifecycle material management, with initial placement in West Point, PA for 18-24 months followed by relocation to Rahway, NJ.
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Sciences, Business, or related field with 2+ years relevant experience; or Master's degree with 1+ year experience
- Direct hands-on experience with SAP master data systems
- Strong understanding of manufacturing principles and processes with ability to translate requirements into digital solutions
- Demonstrated analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and meticulous attention to detail
- Proficiency in Excel and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across functions in dynamic, fast-paced pilot plant environments
- Preferred: pharma or sterile manufacturing background; experience with MES systems
What you'll be doing
- Create, maintain, review, and ensure accuracy of master data across production execution functions
- Support sustainment, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement of standard business processes
- Gather, analyze, and report process performance metrics to support compliance and operational excellence
- Develop and maintain SOPs, training materials, and provide end-user training and technical consultation
- Identify and resolve master data issues, troubleshoot system problems, and escalate complex issues appropriately
