Role summary
Leica Microsystems seeks an optical systems designer to develop custom mechanical designs for OEM applications at the Wetzlar location. The role involves creating and refining optical system designs, producing technical documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams from prototype through production to deliver tailored solutions for customers.

What you'll be doing
- Develop custom mechanical designs for objectives, eyepieces, and optical devices for OEM applications
- Create and maintain design documentation, drawings, bills of materials, and adjustment instructions for manufacturing
- Advance existing concepts or develop new technical solutions considering materials, manufacturing, cost, quality, and feasibility
- Support production during prototyping, series launches, technical modifications, and ongoing production runs
- Collaborate across production technology, manufacturing, R&D, business development, customers, and suppliers on interdisciplinary projects
