Role summary

Biogen seeks an experienced Employment Counsel to provide strategic legal guidance to Global Human Resources on employment law, compliance, and workforce management matters across 8,000+ employees worldwide. Reporting to the Chief Employment Counsel, this senior legal advisor will manage complex employment issues, investigations, disputes, and global governance initiatives.

What they're looking for

Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor (J.D.)
Minimum 12 years progressively responsible employment law experience
Deep expertise in U.S. employment law and HR compliance
Experience with international employment law and global HR governance
Proven ability managing workplace investigations, employment disputes, and outside counsel
Licensed to practice law in Massachusetts or eligible for admission
Demonstrated influence with senior HR leaders and business executives

What you'll be doing

Advise Global Human Resources on employment matters across recruitment, performance management, accommodations, compensation, and separations
Oversee workplace investigations involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and misconduct allegations
Manage employment disputes and litigation matters with external counsel oversight
Develop and enhance global employment policies, governance frameworks, and compliance programs
Conduct employment audits and compliance assessments across international operations
