Role summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Downstream Field Application Scientist to serve as a bioprocessing expert supporting biotechnology and biopharmaceutical customers. The role involves technical leadership across downstream workflows, process optimization, customer demonstrations, and cross-functional collaboration to drive product adoption and innovation.

BS, MS, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, or equivalent bioprocessing experience
Minimum 5 years hands-on bioprocessing experience in Process Development, MSAT, or cGMP Manufacturing
Experience with single-use chromatography, filtration, and downstream purification technologies
Working knowledge of cGMP principles, FDA/EMA regulations, and Annex 1 requirements
Proficiency with Design of Experiments, Quality by Design, Process Analytical Technology principles
Strong communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration abilities

What you'll be doing

Provide technical expertise and peer-to-peer consulting on downstream bioprocessing workflows and process optimization
Lead pre- and post-sales activities including demonstrations, proof-of-concept studies, and technology qualification
Troubleshoot complex bioprocessing challenges and support process scale-up and technology transfer
Deliver technical training to customers and internal teams; conduct GEMBA walks for process improvement
Gather Voice of Customer feedback and communicate insights to support product roadmap and best-practice documentation
