Role summary
Merck seeks a Director of Digital Compliance to lead AI governance and responsible technology adoption across the organization. Reporting to the Chief Privacy and Digital Trust Officer, this role provides compliance guidance on emerging technologies including AI, advanced analytics, and digital health solutions to IT, R&D, and business divisions.
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in law, privacy, digital technologies, or public policy preferred
- 10+ years compliance, privacy, legal, or digital governance experience in regulated industries
- Demonstrated leadership of complex, cross-functional governance programs
- Strong understanding of data protection laws, AI regulations, and risk management principles
- Proven experience counseling on AI systems compliance, risk assessment, and lifecycle governance
- CIPP/E/US/CIPM, AIGP, or similar AI certification preferred
- Strong technical aptitude with AI and machine learning technologies
What you'll be doing
- Develop and execute comprehensive AI governance program including policies, standards, and risk assessment frameworks
- Lead implementation of technical controls for agentic AI solutions with human oversight and monitoring
- Provide strategic guidance on responsible development and deployment of AI-enabled technologies across divisions
- Monitor emerging AI regulations and industry standards, implementing appropriate controls and mitigations
- Represent digital compliance on steering committees and divisional governance bodies
