Role summary
Vertex Pharmaceuticals seeks a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-wide security infrastructure across network, cloud, application, and hybrid environments. - Deep technical knowledge of Palo Alto Networks security platforms in large complex environments
- Strong experience with Zero Trust principles, network access control, and web application firewalls
- Hands-on expertise in cloud security, SaaS security, and asset visibility across AWS and Azure
- Experience developing security standards, guardrails, and technical roadmaps for regulated environments
What you'll be doing
- Lead design, engineering, and optimization of enterprise security platforms across network, cloud, application, and hybrid environments
- Engineer and enhance Zero Trust capabilities through identity-based access, segmentation, and continuous verification models
- Design, implement, and operate enterprise security infrastructure including firewalls, intrusion prevention, and policy enforcement technologies
- Drive security-by-design principles across infrastructure and develop security controls for AI and generative AI technologies
- Mentor engineering teams, conduct architecture reviews, and lead complex technical modernization initiatives
