Role summary

Becton Dickinson seeks an Associate Principal Software Engineer to serve as Platform Technology Architect for the UCC product portfolio. BS/MS in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Systems Engineering
10+ years embedded software or medical device software development experience
Experience with regulated product development and IEC 62304 standards
Expertise in embedded systems architecture, operating systems, and real-time behavior
Knowledge of product security, threat modeling, and secure boot/update strategies
Proficiency with wireless connectivity protocols including Bluetooth, BLE, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet

What you'll be doing

Own software and connectivity capability roadmap across embedded, GUI, operating systems, security, wireless, and diagnostics domains
Define maturity progression steps and align roadmap to product release schedules across UCC platforms
Establish software architecture principles, modularity strategy, cybersecurity guardrails, and reuse models
Serve as technical authority for software and connectivity changes including architecture reviews and pre-launch assessments
Partner with cross-functional teams to translate roadmap into product design implementations and governance approvals
