Role summary
Merck's Global Animal Health Manufacturing group seeks an Associate Director for Process Development to lead technology transfer of large-molecule biopharmaceutical products from R&D to commercial manufacturing. The role manages a team executing scale-up, process validation, and optimization activities across pipeline projects in US facilities.
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's in chemical engineering, biotechnology, biochemistry, protein chemistry, biology, or related field
- 8+ years post-graduate experience with Bachelor's, or 6+ years with Master's, or 4+ years with doctoral degree
- Minimum 3 years direct management experience
- 4+ years in technology transfer, process development, technical operations, or biopharmaceutical manufacturing in regulated environment
- Demonstrated project leadership in complex, matrix-organized fast-paced settings
- Working knowledge of EMA, FDA, and/or USDA regulations and guidelines
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles
What you'll be doing
- Direct development of robust processes and technology transfer of large-molecule products from R&D to operations meeting timelines
- Lead and mentor a technology transfer team, fostering safety culture, technical excellence, and employee development
- Drive data-driven decision-making, continuous improvement, and cost-of-goods reduction through risk methodologies and experiments
- Oversee technical stage-gate reviews and strategic initiatives aligned with regional technology goals
