Role summary
Merck is seeking interns for a 10-12 week position in Laboratory Animals Resources within Research and Development. Interns will gain exposure to vivarium operations, laboratory animal care, veterinary support, and in vivo drug discovery projects at the West Point, Pennsylvania facility.
What they're looking for
- Currently enrolled in accredited veterinary medicine program or pursuing AS/BS/MS in animal science, biology, pharmacology, or related field
- Available for continuous 10-12 week internship beginning May 2027
- Preferred: ALAT certification
- Preferred: In vivo laboratory experience
- Preferred: In vivo husbandry experience
What you'll be doing
- Assist with clinical cases and infectious disease monitoring in laboratory animals
- Support husbandry coordination and animal care operations across multiple species
- Collaborate on in vivo drug discovery and development projects
- Help implement special projects to advance laboratory animal care practices
- Prepare and present final report on training and research experience
