Role summary
This 4-6 month co-op in the Biocatalysis group within Small Molecule Process Research & Development focuses on developing enzymatic transformations and novel biocatalysts. Participants will conduct research in biocatalysis, protein engineering, microfluidics, and fermentation while supporting drug discovery and manufacturing efforts.

- Currently enrolled sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or Material Science
- Completed at least two years of study toward bachelor's degree by June 2027
- Available full-time for 4-6 months beginning May 2027
- Authorized to work in United States; no sponsorship available
- Basic laboratory skills and prior research experience
- Familiarity with analytical techniques: HPLC, NMR, mass spectrometry, or spectrophotometry
- GPA 3.0 or higher preferred
What you'll be doing
- Develop novel enzymatic transformations and expand biocatalytic approaches to solve chemistry problems
- Design and engineer proteins with novel functions using directed evolution and related methods
- Conduct screening, fermentation process development, and laboratory automation work
- Maintain accurate electronic notebook records and follow safe laboratory practices
- Present research results in oral and written formats to project teams
